A small boy, grew up in a small southern Indiana town with big dreams—playing ball, painting, taking photos, and building things. His second oldest brother was his hero, but tragedy marked his early life. His oldest brother and uncle were killed in WWII, and later, his father died in a coal mine accident. Those losses left him wondering, What is my purpose?
As a teenager, he worked hard to help his mother and fund his hobbies. He went to church mostly to please his mom—and later, his girlfriend. He tried following in his brother’s footsteps, but never measured up. Even after marrying the girl next door, raising four boys, and accomplishing many dreams, he still felt something missing.
One Sunday, his wife persuaded him to attend and truly listen. The messages cut straight to his heart and he began to feel like he belonged. He realized fulfillment wouldn’t come from achievements, recognition, or even his family—it could only come from knowing God and following His leading. That day, he stepped into the aisle, surrendered his life to Him, and found the peace and purpose he had been searching for.
