Searching

Two DIY (do it yourself) homeowners went into a hardware store, looking for plumbing parts to their kitchen sink. One found what she was looking for and the other owner struggled to find the right parts. Sometimes we feel frustrated, when they can’t find what they are looking for and can walk away discouraged; not able to fix the problem. We may think, why can’t I be like the other homeowner, who finds what they need and gets the problem fixed?

Searching for answers can require us to ask for help. As we can see, searching is better than doing nothing at all. Yet, we can still walk away discouraged when we can’t find what we need. The missing action can be, asking for help. Sometimes we ask for help because we are so frustrated with life not working the way we want it to work. Other times, one’s pride and uncomfortable feelings get in our way, enough not to ask for help. How serious are you today? Are you desperate enough to ask for help?

Here’s are some strategies and a tool you can use when searching for help. Allow your emotions to be a motivator to take action. Then allow your brain to sort through options like … Who can I ask? Where can I go to ask? When can I ask for help? What will I say when asking? How will I ask it?

Your tool is your brain, use it wisely. Caution, your emotions/feelings are used only for motivation, not to influence what, how or why you are asking for help.
